The name is derived from an old torch song wherein the heroine professes to prefer love over money! Ruffled, crisp and clear, beguiling, pink with red eye band. The yellow-green throat is bordered lemon and radiates out to the rose-red eye which is set off by the warm pink petal color. This round blossom has pleated ruffles on wide petals bisected by an indented bluish pink midrib. The ruffles have a peach to golden-peach picotee encircling the petals and lightly on the ruffled sepals. It produces a large plant with excellent, fresh green foliage and heavily branched and budded scapes that are some of the finest in the garden. Scapes average 35 buds and with sufficient water rebloom is good. LOVE OVER GOLD blooms for an unusually long period in our garden. It sets pods well with selected pollens only, but its pollen is extremely fertile.
